A Soul-Nourishing Escape: My Day at the SLAM & The Sanctuary Revive Retreat

Some days stay with you long after they’ve passed - not because they were loud or grand, but because they brought you back to yourself. That’s exactly what our monthly SLAM Society Day Retreat with The Sanctuary did for me.

Held outdoors on the grass, surrounded by palms and towering trees, the retreat felt like stepping into a hidden oasis. The air was fresh, the energy calm, and the space full of connection and intention.

We began the day with a beautiful workshop led by fellow SLAM sister Alexis, who shared heartfelt insights and simple, practical tips for shifting our habits and mindset. It wasn’t overwhelming or preachy - just thoughtful reminders of the small changes that can create meaningful impact in our everyday lives.

Afterwards, we flowed into yoga beneath the trees, letting our bodies stretch and soften under the dappled light. Then came the sound healing, where everything slowed. As I settled into the grass, the vibrations of the crystal bowls and chimes floated through the air, resonating through my ears and into my body.

At one point, the sound felt like it was humming directly inside my ear - not loud, but deeply grounding, like it was realigning something I hadn’t realised was out of sync.

One of the most powerful parts of the day was being offered a chakra cleanse by the beautiful Dhara. I didn’t expect to feel such a shift, but afterwards, I felt calm, clear, and completely at peace.

The rest of the day unfolded gently and soulfully - chatting with like-minded women and men, journaling in the sunshine, pulling angel and tarot cards for a little guidance, and letting laughter ripple through the trees. We moved between the hot sauna and icy cold plunges (what a buzz!), then swam in the pool, soaked up the sun, and simply enjoyed the moment.

Some of us took the opportunity to indulge in a massage - something I now wish I’d done too, just to further cement the sense of ease and deep relaxation the day brought.

One of the most special moments was when we formed a circle together in the water - a simple act, yet such a strong symbol of unity, support, and sisterhood.

This day retreat with The Sanctuary wasn’t about doing more - it was about softening, slowing down, and remembering who you are underneath the noise.

If you’ve been craving a moment to exhale, reset, and reconnect - this is your sign. Come with an open heart and leave with so much more.
