Every woman has a story - the turning points, the risks, the lessons, and the beautiful, unexpected moments that shape who she becomes.SLAM Sessions is where we share those stories, spotlighting the women in our community who inspire, uplift, and create in their own unique ways.
This month, we’re delighted to introduce Flore Vallery-Radot - a Paris-born, Shire-based photographer and filmmaker whose work captures the kind of beauty most people pass by. With her vibrant French eye and deeply human approach, Flore tells visual stories of artists, makers, business owners, and brands across Australia. Her work spans documentaries, exhibitions, portraits, and cinematic brand films - each infused with soul, colour, and curiosity.
Meet Flore
Name: Flore Vallery-Radot
Business: Photographer, Filmmaker, Visual Storyteller
Website: florevalleryradot.com

What she does: Flore captures the essence of people, places, and ideas through photography and film. She documents artists and makers, tells brand stories, creates documentaries, and exhibits personal work in galleries across Australia and Europe.
Her energy in one line: A creative hunter of beauty, meaning, and the tiny human moments that make life extraordinary.
What inspired you to follow this path?
“An obsessive pursuit of beauty, intelligence, and the blend of the two: craftsmanship.”
Flore has always been driven by a fascination with the things humans create — the shapes, colours, small details and gestures that reveal who we are. Storytelling through images became both her craft and her grounding. It allows her to notice what others miss and to make sense of a world she describes as both exquisite and brutal.
Her visual work is a survival mechanism — a way to stay focused on what’s good.
What’s your ‘why’? What drives you every day?
“I’m a strange mix of absolute pessimism and drastic optimism. With my job, I’ve become a hunter — chasing beautiful things and the tiny details that make our human journey.”
Flore isn’t motivated by perfection. She’s moved by colour, form, emotion, and the raw, unpolished pieces of life. It’s the combination of art, storytelling, and human connection that keeps her creating.

Your Journey
Biggest challenge so far?
One of Flore’s proudest milestones came from stepping directly into fear — starting film school at age 45.
“I was completely out of my depth. I thought everyone knew better. But I promised myself to give it my absolute best.”
She didn’t miss a single class.
Her first film, A Little Bag For Me, is now touring festivals worldwide — a reminder that it’s never too late to begin again.
A defining moment?
“I wish I had one… I’m simply made of millions of tiny moments and micro decisions.”
Her life, like her art, is a collage - layered, textured, and evolving.
Advice to your younger self (or women starting out)?
“Don’t worry so much about what people think. Projects can be training grounds for ideas. They don’t have to succeed to be useful. Get out there and try. Do it for you.”
Community & Connection
What does connection mean to you?
“Connection is as important as healthy food, restful sleep, and exercise — and often the one that’s forgotten.”
Flore’s friends call her Flo the Gatherer, and it’s easy to see why.Through her international photography workshops and her intimate artists’ long lunches - whether hosted in France or right here in Australia — she creates spaces where women meet, share, dream, and spark new ideas.
These gatherings often lead to collaborations, creative breakthroughs, and ambitious projects. They give women the village they often lack.
How has community (including SLAM) supported you?
Flore has only attended one SLAM business lunch so far, but she already feels the potential for meaningful connection.
“As a visual storyteller, I hope to bring my skills to elevate the people I meet and work with.”
How do you hope to uplift other women?
By sharing both her successes and her failures.
“I find that women are often very isolated, especially creatives or solo business owners. They don’t have Monday meetings to share their ambitions or progress.”
Her mission is to give women a space to speak their ideas aloud - because often, that’s the missing step that gives their projects wings.
Fun & Lighthearted with Flore
Perfect weekend: A cultural adventure, a beautiful meal, playful experimentation with her cameras, a good rest, and time exploring with her husband and three children.
Coffee or cocktail: Neither - she’s a herbal tea devotee.
Sunrise or sunset: Both - she finds energy in each.
Favourite reads: A lifelong love of French and Russian literature.
Fun fact: She collects cookbooks — more than 1,100 of them — housed on a custom floor-to-ceiling bookshelf built by her husband.
Why We Love Flore’s Story
Flore reminds us that art exists everywhere — in colour, in chaos, in the tiny moments of everyday life. She shows us that reinvention is not only possible but powerful. And she embodies the essence of
SLAM: creativity, connection, courage, and community.
Her story encourages us to slow down, notice the details, and create beauty in our own way.
